I'd rather be called names, than feel lost. I trust my shepherd, but not what Isaac says. He could be my dad, for all I know. No thanks.

I feel... lost...
by Strider Arekksu in(sorry for mispellings, i am emotionally frustrated right now) *sigh* i recently have slowly been, not interested in the 'orginazational' routine of the jws.
i have done personal research on the world, some secrets the government hide from the naive and all that good stuff.
i'm pretty confident something bad is going to happen like the jw doctrine states.

I don't subscribe to fractions at all, personally. I balance things out for myself, after considering the input of others.

Ah, Isaac. So your spirit is Christ's, is it? I though he kept it for himself.
Thanks DaCheech, that http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/experiences/154486/1/Thinking-of-becoming-a-Witness-again-and-my-reasons-for-doing-so thread is very interesting. No wonder Renny is so lovable. I felt at least a little lost until I saw her posts here on JWN. I am 3rd-generation, but from the "fellowship meeting" tradition. I stopped with the birthdays, the Christmas, and band music before I left high school, and several years before I started learning in earnest from worship with JWs. I, too, have had a real problem with the whole "Cross 3=1" deal the same as Renny. Picking the "least bad" religion is much like how I feel, too. I read what I can from JWs, etc. But, I feel that each statement in the WT publications must be tested against the (truth and spirit of the) Bible itself. I don't trust the NWT absolutely, although it is my primary reference for the last 18 years. (It was the modern 1769-update of the KJV before that.) Weekly meetings 2-3 times per week is what I've known and practices all of my life. By my current count, I have over 30 full English translations of the Bible (not counting multiple editions/ copies of the same translation), as well as many other English NTs, several English gospel harmonies, various English books about one/ several of the translations, various English atlases, etc. The WTS part is probably just over 50% of my total Bible-related part of my library. I also have a foreign-language section including several binders full of material which I have scanned from libraries and online, info on literally hundreds of languages. Other cultural activities, including family history, is yet another full section in my personal library. I hadn't meant to hijack this thread, but we're a fairly tight-knit group in some ways, and Strider is an expansive storyteller himself. So, I hope that my part helps in ways that can be beneficial for all of us.

TD, I am offended by the totalitarianism that I see expressed in all 3 cases. Canada claims to be a multi-cultural mosaic now with freedom of religion, and yet it seems to be up to each province as to what rights parents have and what rights cultures have to perpetuate themselves. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms ought to be applied uniformly throughout its territory, and within its claimed parameters:— "Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law"
For those uncertain as to this Canadian Charter, it can be found at http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/charter/1.html#anchorbo-ga:l_I
As to Isaac's assertions that the Bible "in no way addresses blood transfusions", I beg to strongly differ, those teaching what I have learned from the Bible is not easy because there are over 1000 pages to it, and I have a major problem because I am not well socialized, being largely left to myself throughout most periods of my life.
First, there it the fact that "eating blood" is forbidden, and "eating blood" is a form of "ingesting blood". I do not believe it is loving to see how close we can come to a forbidden line without going over it. Now, now that I have experienced that and couldn't stop myself from crossing into forbidden territory, I now believe that it is best to "play it safe" by not toying with the "slippery slope".
Second, it says that blood should be "poured out onto the ground", rather than "ingested". To my way of looking at this, there is a practical reason for Jehovah's directive. After all, Isaiah 48:17 speaks of us benefiting ourselves. Less days in the hospital, less complications, more meticulous surgeons — that all sounds like benefits to me, to the surgeons, and to the taxpayers.
Third, it says "touch nothing unclean". It has been proven that once diseases are in the blood, and that the scrrening procedures have no way of making sure that the donors disease(s) are all eliminated from the blood.
Fourth, Psalm 146:3,5 states the following:— (v.3) Do not put YOUR trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. (v.5) Happy is the one who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in Jehovah his God.
Now, there may be more principles and Bible passages which bear on this subject, but even one would be enough for me to avoid either donating my own blood for someone else's possible use, or receiving what is known to contain blood (I'm not talking about properly-bled meat).
Trust is a delicate matter. I may chat with many, but only trust myself as directed by whom I feel completely comfortable. That is according to the free will that I now know about, and exercise as I am training myself through discussions such as this one. Iron sharpens iron, and I'm glad that it does.

This Disturbs Me Most of All
by cameo-d inno, it's not the "claw hand"!
what disturbs me most of all is the potter's shards.. any coin collector will tell you that the "imperfect" coins are the most valuable.
any art historian will tell you that the value of a painting is it's originality and uniqueness and the talent that can only come with time, suffering, and perserverence.. it is the oddities and quirks in one of a kind pieces that make them a delight and a treasure.. so why is it that this potter has no appreciation for uniqueness?

PSacramento, I guess you'll just have to submit your suggestions to the WT artists

I would hope for the Supreme Court of Canada to go by its own Charter of Rights and Freedoms, as I mentioned earlier. The rule of the Bible (as correctly written, translated, understood, and applied) is what must prevail, and what will prevail. We all live in Jehovah's Universe after all. Jehovah's the One boss we don't want to mess with.

Jehovah and Jesus have SIMILARITIES. But, they also have DIFFERENCES, just as any FATHER-SON duo.

PSacramento, YES !!, we must acknowledge BOTH Father and Son in our worship, and so we pray to JEHOVAH in the name of JESUS. John 17:3 makes a related point. Learning about both the only true God AND the one he sent forth [Jesus] is required for humans to live forever.

I can easily imagine a system (=organization) which has no police force and no prisons. We call it the New System, which comes with Armageddon. Spiritually, it's already here.
